Safety of principal
Stock Investing Definition

The definition of Safety of principal is:

The assurance that a person's principal, or initial investment, will remain the same over the life of the investment. This applies to bank certificates of deposit, where the principal is federally insured up to $100ꯠ per account, and to money market mutual funds, where the share price has historically been maintained at $1 a share.
