Activities Details
Royals Game: Friday night of the conference, we will head to the newly renovated Kauffman Stadium, home of the Kansas City Royals MLB team. The new stadium features a Pepsi Party Deck, Royals Hall of Fame that even features the history the Kansas City Monarchs (the longest running negro league franchise) , beautiful fountains, NEW gourmet menus (don't worry, they still have those incredible hotdogs and nachos that can only be achieved at a ball park), and the largest jumbo tron in the nation! Kauffman Stadium is located adjacent to Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team. The Chiefs will also be playing that night in Minnesota, so be prepared for us crazy KC fans as we cheer when we receive the updates on how our Chiefs are doing in that game.
Jazz Club: Jazz music has also always been a huge part of the Kansas City culture. There is even an entire district dedicated to jazz! The 18th and Vine district has played host to many famous jazz artists such as Charlie Parker (born and raised in KC), Bennie Moten (born in KC), Count Basie and Lester Young. According to a Kansas City website (http://www.experiencekc.com/bluesandjazz.html), "While New Orleans was the birthplace of jazz, America's music grew up in Kansas City". So, kick back and enjoy the wonderful jazz music that KC has to offer as we head to a local jazz club for our Saturday night festivities.
Barbecue: No visit to KC would be complete without some good eating! Imagine a nice juicy KC Strip STEAK, or a big plate of BBQ RIBS and baked beans. Yummy! In Kansas City, we take pride in our barbeque. Of course, if you ask anyone in KC where you can get the best barbeque in town, you are most likely to hear "Arrowhead Stadium during tailgating at a Chiefs game", but unfortunately we will not be able to attend the tailgating since they will be in Minnesota! So, we will be showcasing the incredible food of Gates BBQ. Gates is nationally known as one of the greatest BBQ restaurants in the nation. We can tell you how good the food is here in Kansas City until we're blue in the face, but ultimately YOU will have to be your own judge of that. And the ONLY way to do that is for you to JOIN US!

Shopping: The venue and hotel are located in the heart of Kansas City in the area called the Country Club Plaza. The plaza was built to resemble the gorgeous city of Seville, Spain and features prime shopping, delicious restaurants, beautiful architecture and lots of fountains. Shops include Burberry, Armani Exchange, Ralph Lauren, Halls, Gap, Banana Republic, Potter Barn, Barnes & Noble and so much more! Restaurants include P.F. Changs, Cheesecake Factory, Kona Grill, George Brett's Restaurant and Brio, just to name a few. You can't go wrong on the Plaza, there is something for everyone. Don't worry, you will have plenty of time to enjoy this beautiful part of our city, and since you will be staying there, all of these shops are within walking distance!
"The team did a great job of putting the conference together." -Susan Kroger
