Hangout. The
balance of a permanent loan when the end of the loan's term is
beyond the end of the lease.
For
instance, a bank gives John
a loan with 15 year terms, on a property that he's leased to a
farmer for 10 years. The loan balance at the end of 10
years will be $100,000 which is the hangout. The bank
assumes that the value of the property at the end of the 10
year period will exceed $100,000, so risk is minimal.
